DataFest@MQ 2022

Class of DataFest 2022 @ Macquarie University

The beginning

On 25–27 November 2022, DataFest was held at Macquarie for the very first time with eight teams and 33 undergraduate students from various areas of study including statistical modelling, mathematics, data science, astronomy and astrophysics, business analytics, actuarial studies, computing, psychology and education participated.

Judging Panel

The judging panel was consisted of:

  • Prof Benoit Liquet, School of Mathematical & Physical Sciences
  • A/Prof Linda Linda Beaumont, FSE Associate Dean (Curriculum & Learning)
  • Dr Joshua Ching, Data Science Manager, Janssen Australia and New Zealand

Winners

In 2022, we awarded prizes on 4 categories:

  • Judges Choice Award
  • Awards for the Best Visualisation
  • Awards for the Best Insight
  • Awards for the Best Statistical Analysis

The Award for Best Use of External Data was replaced with the Award for Best Statistical Analysis due to the nature of the dataset used, which made incorporating external data extremely challenging.
